Dear Diary - Stomping Grounds
I'm doing something similar. I dunno how to divide up my posts sometimes, though, as my posting style on LJ doesn't work on G+. Frustrating.
Somehow I'd managed to forget you were a MUD person.

I was reminded that yesterday was the 22nd anniversary of the first TinyMUD being opened... and I happened across them just a couple of months later, so, yeah, over two decades and counting.
I figure that I'll crosspost my substantive posts to G+ and FB, and for the odd little snippets I'll add Twitter. With luck LJ will grow native G+ crossposting ability sometime soon here...
I was a "latecomer"--I joined the original TinyMUD the day it shut down, but it's been 22 years for me too so I guess time makes oldbies of us all.

I had a character on ye olde originall TinyMUD, but didn't hang out there nearly as much as I did on TinyHELL (second TinyMUD ever), and I stuck with the Random-and-Moira MUDs until I ended up wizarding the damn things. Go figure.
Yeah, I was just posting earlier on Fitocracy about how G+ needs get on with providing people with crossposting APIs -- of course they also need to be able to filter that stuff like Facebook can, so that's probably the holdup.
I dunno, man, as I posted on G+, I feel like my LJ-posting days (as opposed to LJ-commenting days) may have come and gone. It's just too much screwing around for something nobody new is going to come see, unlike, well, G+. Yeah, right now Google is clearly comfortable running some people off, some of whom are friends, and that's sad, but...
So I guess what I'd actually like is to be able to crosspost FROM G+ TO LJ, since the interface there is so much less annoying to me. I'd probably just go back to auto-friendslocking my LJ at that point. (I already use an extension to crosspost from G+ to FB and/or Twitter when appropriate, so I'm okay there.)
Feh. This social networking stuff is a pain in my ass.

People are hard!
The "host on LJ, crosspost to G+" method feels right to me, since G+ seems to bridge the LJ-ish "write stuff here" and the FB/Twitter-ish "share stuff here" atmosphere. The tricky part for me isn't the posting, since there are tools to help with that; it's the reading, since so many people (unlike us!) only use one of the networks. So I end up having to juggle multiple browser windows, yet again, and Twitter for the most part gets ignored.
Conveniently, LJ just offered me a two-week trial of paid membership, which will allow me to decide if I want to re-up, and at the very least will grant my extra userpics a new lease on life...

Whoops, that anonymous comment was me; feel free to delete the duplicate.

Yeah, I've been doing that. It feels like the right mix to me, too.
(Actually what I've been doing is "post on dreamwidth, automatically crosspost to LiveJournal, hand post a link from Google+ to dw and LJ". Clunky, but effective.)
the reason i stay with livejournal is the same - it feels more like a journal. and i have a very handy searchable software app that i can use to back it up.

Exactly. Though I should maybe look at similar software apps for myself, since I don't have an easy way to search at present.
i like ljArchive, even though it occasionally crashes with Win7 (i dl'd a hotfix that may help) and is no longer supported.

I have drunk of the Apple-flavored Koolaid, no Windows here :)
