It's official - Stomping Grounds
I've known this day would come since the day he was born... Since school started last week, it was time to put Owen up against the doorjamb and measure his height, and he's now a quarter inch taller than I am. (At the previous measurement, in March, he was still an inch shy. Yep, an inch and a quarter over the summer.)

He's almost certainly going to end up over 6 feet (I'm a nice average 5' 9") -- if he follows the CDC growth chart, he should hit 6 foot 2, an inch taller than my "little" brother.

Scary. And wonderful!

Agreed on both counts!
Rob went sailing past me last March, when he grew a half inch in a week. He's the same height as Owen right now, which actually has him down a little from the curve he's usually on, but he's also bulked up around the waist, which generally means he's about to shoot upwards -- I'm expecting this to be kind of spectacular, because he's put on an inch and a half at the waist and usually it's a more gradual thing (and he's not eating especially differently, to account for it otherwise). Also, his voice, which had already smoothly and gradually deepened to a tenor, is suddenly cracking all the time. All in all, it's looking like it's about to be dramatic around here.

Ah, hormones! I'm just looking out for the time when I'm going to have to show Owen how to wield a razor...
It's several months now since Owen got taller than Darla, and she complains how wrong it is to have to look up at her son.
Rob being taller than me doesn't bother me as much as I expect Amy's eventually passing me will, but it is still a little startling when I catch sight of both of us in a mirror or glass. And I've already warned him that his swiftly-approaching ability to rest his chin on the top of my head is going to be a classic example of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

Yes, just as I reminded Owen that just because he's a quarter inch taller than me doesn't mean I can't take him out.
